DIAGNOSIS & IMAGING

A precise diagnosis is the foundation of the right treatment

Many spine pathways stall because the diagnosis is incomplete. Franchir's role is to make sure every patient enters their treatment with a clear, documented, reviewed diagnosis — and a second opinion when it matters.

Our diagnostic process

Five steps, one clear deliverable: a documented diagnosis.

  1. Step 1

    Send your imaging

We accept all formats — MRI, CT, X-rays. Upload via our secure channel after your first email.

  2. Step 2

    Clinical interview

A structured interview in Montréal documents symptoms, history, prior treatments and functional impact.

  3. Step 3

    Multidisciplinary review

Your file is reviewed by a French neurosurgeon or orthopaedic spine specialist, sometimes with a radiologist.

  4. Step 4

    Second opinion if needed

When two reasonable strategies exist, we organise a second opinion before any irreversible decision.

  5. Step 5

    Written diagnosis

You receive a written diagnosis, a clear treatment plan and a sharable file for your home physician.

What to bring

The more complete your file, the faster and more accurate the diagnosis.

Why it matters

Spine MRIs are rarely binary. The interpretation depends on age, history and symptoms. Without the full picture, even a perfect MRI can mislead.

Bringing the right documents helps us avoid repeating expensive imaging and keeps your timeline short.

Checklist

  • Most recent MRI (DICOM CD or download link)
  • CT scan and standing X-rays if available
  • Operative reports of any prior spine surgery
  • List of medications including pain relief history
  • Physiotherapy or pain clinic reports
  • Any imaging older than 12 months for comparison
Minimally invasive spine surgery (MIS)
Advanced imaging and minimally invasive techniques for a precise diagnosis and surgical plan.

Second opinion service

You can use Franchir for a structured second opinion only — without committing to surgery in France.

Independent review

A French spine specialist reviews your imaging and prior plan, gives a written opinion in French and English.

Video consultation

A 30 to 45-minute secure video consultation with the surgeon to discuss the file in plain language.

Shared with your team
